This thread is meant to be a public discussion on the PEF election. As I challenged Pete Rea on CapCon to stop by and have such a discussion, I figured I should open a new thread to get the ball rolling.
This is a totally open discussion, anyone can join in.
Have at it, and try to keep it civil, as I don't intend to play referee and will not be moderating anything unless it's way out of hand. We are, after all, all in the same union, so while we may disagree with the others viewpoints, we still have to work with each other in the long run.

Pete? Where are you? Here's your chance to counter my "dribble", and you're not going to take it?
And by the way, the word is drivel. D-r-i-v-e-l. "Dribble" is what you do with a basketball.

Crickets...
Pete signed up for an account, and then ran. Tom - well, he finally got smart and made his Facebook page private (No worries Tom - I made copies of it) and apparently doesn't have the stones to debate in an unmoderated forum.

Darth Anonymous,
Gee maybe I should add some smiles. I'm not crazy about this site either it looks a bit restrictive. I don't know what I agreed to abide by when I came here but it will probably clip my wings.
I used dribble as an adjective to describe the thready string of saliva generated by your rantings and insults, sort of a mental image I have of Cujo.
Be careful what you wish for as you may catch that shiny red fire engine someday and then what will you do?
I find it extremely difficult to take you seriously on any level as long as you remain anonymous and just for the record nobody buys your excuses. If you really feel that threatened you shouldn't be in a public venue to begin with. You are playing in politics and your words are taken in by easily influenced people. This in itself may result in actions that can alter innocent people's lives. If you want to swim in these waters get out of the shallow end of the pool and swim with the adults.
Throughout our history people who wanted to do what you pretend to do were forced to reveal their identities and stand by their convictions. I don't think an individual that can influence other people into taking actions that are against their best interest should be given a shroud of anonymity.
Maybe for dating sites and other recreational sites its acceptable but not in this arena.
By the way, a delay in my response to your immediate need for attention will not be mitigated by your childish taunts. Unlike you, I have a balanced life and only a small portion is reserved for cyberspace. Long before this platform became popular I was involved in a social network spanning several decades. I have been involved in communications since the 70's and have had thousands of heated conversations on just about every topic you can imagine. To be honest you don't even rank in the top 50 percentile.
Why don't you take all that anger and put it to good use? You would be a good tool if handled correctly.
Now that I have visited your sand box can I expect a video from you that we can post on our site. You can use your human first name and come out of the cyber closet. Maybe if you use reality you will get that 15 minutes you spoke of.

Darth anonymous,
I signed up for this site and then I went to bed because I was tired. Unlike you, I work for a living ( not for the likes of you) and I didn't feel like going in to work tired.
So you just sit there and write up repetitive taunts as if you can goad us like children. Man you really are pathetic.
So why am I here, you say this site isn't censored. I'm not so sure. I know mine is not.
You better get used to the videos Darth I have a feeling they are going to be a regular feature. Hey, I have an idea, you should make one. Oh, thats right you can't show your face in public. Heh, heh.
I have a feeling your anonymity will be a thing of the past soon. I think you talk too much to the wrong people. Don't worry it 's fun to be in the sunshine, you don't really want to spend all your time in the shadows do you?
Should I taunt you for not being on here, "real time". OK, I'm tired, its late and you aren't here to amuse me.
By the way I finally discovered why you are the way you are. You are suffering from histrionic personality disorder. I knew there had to be a medical reason. You poor cuss. Seek treatment and get back on the blogs, I'll bet you'll be able to make some friends. No need to thank me the diagnosis is free, just trying to help. -pete

So you just sit there and write up repetitive taunts as if you can goad us like children. Man you really are pathetic. Actually, Pete, this more describes what you've been doing with regards to us. Every time I take a look at one of your posts I had to ask myself "did I read this one before"? I'm afraid that you sound so much like a broken record that I gave up on bothering to read your TU posts anymore since I read it last time you posted it. You keep flaking out about anonymity, but really, what difference does it make? From where I sit, I can't prove you're actually a guy named pete with any affiliation to the union, but that's because I just don't give a damn. The severe disservice "Members First" showed to the membership caused me to seek employment outside of state service. I'm back because my agency begged, but I voted against those who failed to do their damn job. What we really need is someone to fight to end the hiring freeze. I am the only member of my group not within 2 years of retirement, and the three of us do a job that was originally allotted to nine FTEs plus consultants. We can't get it all done and are merely treading water. If the union isn't fighting to keep us staffed to adequite levels, it should at least fight for adequite compensation. Members First did neither, and I say goodbye. PS. the downside of my new work schedule is that I have to take advantage of the acceptable use policy and post in short segments while waiting for a process to complete, etc, as I don't do much at home anymore.

Gee maybe I should add some smiles. I'm not crazy about this site either it looks a bit restrictive. I don't know what I agreed to abide by when I came here but it will probably clip my wings. Actually Pete, unlike the TU blogs, there are basically no restrictions here. Go ahead - call me names, swear at me, do whatever your little heart desires. I used dribble as an adjective to describe the thready string of saliva generated by your rantings and insults, sort of a mental image I have of Cujo. No. You used "dribble" because you are inarticulate, and have heard people say "drivel" before but have never seen it used in context. Your excuse is also hilarious and reflects on being inarticulate, because what you describe is drool or spittle. Find a dictionary - it might help. Be careful what you wish for as you may catch that shiny red fire engine someday and then what will you do? Sense - make some. Unlike you and the other PEF Families subversives, my opinion runs counter to the Cuomo agenda - and I am one of the most well known posters on the TU and other blogs, which the Cuomo admin obviously reads. As it's well known that Cuomo is a vindictive asshole, and I have no aspirations for union office or 15 minutes of fame, I choose to remain anonymous so I do not place a target on my back with the administration. Deal with it. And quit the appeal to emotions - you'll get no such sympathy from anyone here - Government Gangsters quit the forum a long time ago. Throughout our history people who wanted to do what you pretend to do were forced to reveal their identities and stand by their convictions. I don't think an individual that can influence other people into taking actions that are against their best interest should be given a shroud of anonymity. If I'm such a non-issue because I'm anonymous, why do you waste so much time on me? Maybe for dating sites and other recreational sites its acceptable but not in this arena. Sadly for you, the entire internet and political blogosphere on the internet tends to disagree with you. Obviously, you aren't that familiar with how things work on the web. Go figure. I reiterate: If I'm such a non-issue because I'm anonymous, why do you waste so much time on me? Why don't you take all that anger and put it to good use? You would be a good tool if handled correctly. Thanks? Now that I have visited your sand box can I expect a video from you that we can post on our site. You can use your human first name and come out of the cyber closet. Maybe if you use reality you will get that 15 minutes you spoke of. I don't do videos. Unlike you and Tom, I don't crave that 15 minutes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Look Pete, here's the deal: This is business. It's not personal, even though you and Mini-Pete seem to think it is. I, and many others, think the two of you are uninformed, uneducated, and simply bad for our union. Why? Because the both of you seem to forget key lessons from the history of organized labor. It is people like you, without backbones that are the reason for it's current decline. The logic that you can simply give a little here and give a little there without ever standing up simply erodes what little power and credibility unionism has left. You, the rest of the PEFDysfunctionals and Members First seem to have no plan other than "concede" when faced with adversity. That isn't a strategy for anything other than further eroding the union, our incomes, and the political power of the middle class in general. While you can choose to believe it or not, I stood for my convictions last year and voted no because it was the right thing to do, even if it meant I would be laid off. Since you seem to now think you know someone who knows me personally (which I doubt), perhaps you should ask them if they were told by me I might be getting laid off. That's one of the key differences between you and I Pete. I'm not just a guy that talks tough until the shit hits the fan. I'm a guy that stays on the path no matter how difficult it will be for me - because I'm a man of my convictions. So you and Mini-Pete can keep bloviating about how you "saved jobs" and tell heart-tugging stories of poor single moms. Me - I can sit back and tell my kid that hey kid, this is how a real man does the right thing - sometimes, they have to put their own neck on the line, because doing the right thing requires it, and the right thing is not always the easy thing. That is something that you, Mini-Pete, and the rest of the dysfunctional ones will never understand, because you lack intestinal fortitude and the courage to do whats right if doing what's right will negatively affect you in any way, shape, or form. There's a word for that: cowardice.

Another thing Pete:
"I have a feeling your anonymity will be a thing of the past soon. I think you talk too much to the wrong people. Don't worry it 's fun to be in the sunshine, you don't really want to spend all your time in the shadows do you?"
You see - this now reflects that for you, this is personal. Apparently, you want to go out of your way to "expose me", while an adult that wasn't taking things so personally and instead viewed it for what it is - union business/politics - would simply respect the wishes of an anonymous party on the internet that they remain anonymous.
If successful, your problem is going to be this Pete: Firstly, you'll lose the one way you have to marginalize me to the other PEF Families sheeple - you'll no longer be able to say "He's anonymous - ignore him." Secondly, you'll find that people who do know me will point out that I am every bit who I say I am - a man of my convictions who stands up for what he believes. If anything, you'll simply be making matters worse for yourself, because I suspect people will lose respect for you for acting so infantile.

Yeah - go PETE!! There's 41 in my office hoping to see Darth finally unmasked... Maybe like the "real" Darth, there is good under the mask and he'll come back from the Darkside!! ;D Translation: "There's 41 people in my office who were scheduled to be laid off, and me, being naive, think all of them want to know who some random dude on the internet is." The reality is that the vast majority of them likely don't give a shit. My guess, you're a youngster that is a paraprofessional or layperson in a high turnover, entry level state job who also thinks the entire LIFO system should simply be tossed out the door because Gen Y'ers are overly entitled and don't think anyone should have to pay their dues. Am I getting warm?

Actually, no. There was no one in my office scheduled to be laid off. All of us have been here for 10+ years. We are enjoying this immensely. We have all done our homework on the NYUP folks and found them sorely lacking in credibility and morals. We read Capital Confindential on lunch and have been following it closely. We've all come to the conclusion that you're pretty much a jerk and a would be bully and you're threatened by Pete. Even you have to admit, he's more intelligent than you. We think you're funny at your attempts to somehow discredit him and all you're doing is making him looking better with each of your postings. So please, continue.... It's more entertaining that I think even you could have originally imagined.

I think I'll let readers decide for themselves who's more intelligent. And I know. I know. I'm such a jerk because I disagree with Petes opinions about the direction the union should take and basically called him out on a few fibs he was telling. That makes me a real asshole I guess.
You're not here to debate the issues. You're simply here to troll and insult me. Go for it - it shows the maturity level of PEF Families and their naive, infantile supporters.

Passive aggressive doesn't suit you. It's a pretty lame way of squirming out. Actually, Pete is more intelligent than you, his writing skills are far superior to yours. We're simply here for the entertainment value alone. We've already cast our votes for the KMF slate. Sorry to hear you wasted your vote.

Continuing to prove my above point I see.
Look, I'm not here to debate who is a more eloquent writer, or who'd get a better grade from their English teacher. However, if you think Pete has better "writing skills" than I, I'd like to know what the fuck you've been reading, because almost every post he has made on CapCon, on the PEF Families/ Union Families websites, and even here have contained more errors than I care to shake a stick at, and are generally far from being well articulated. Does that mean Pete is a horrible writer? No. It could simply mean he's being less formal because he's posting on the internet - many people do this. But you're smoking large quantities of crack if you think that what Pete has put online reflects he has "better writing skills" than me. That comment would cause English teachers everywhere to exhort a hearty chuckle, because it should be plainly obvious to anyone with a 6th grade education that has not been the case.
The fact of the matter is, you're here to troll, which is clearly indicated by the fact that you're going off on ad hominem attacks instead of actually sticking to the issue of the PEF elections - which proves my original point in that many of the PEFDysfunctionals and their supporters are quite infantile. That's one area where I think people like you and Tom do Pete a great disservice - because Pete isn't slinging ad hominem on Youtube or on blog posts like you idiots are. Instead, he remains respectful during debate.
Let me put things in perspective for you Lynn - you're posting here at my discretion. The reason why I haven't banned you or deleted your posts is this: By acting like an infantile troll, you make my case for me. Intelligent, you ain't. And yes, before you point it out, I used the non-word "ain't".
