No,no,no you didn't get a layoff notice and you dishonor all of the folks that had to go through that trauma. The only way you will convince anybody you were threatened would be to post the document. You have absolutely no credibility on this one so I wouldn't go there.
Very hypocritical of you to talk about not using an emotional appeal. You and NYUP use emotions as your big club except its anger and we use compassion. You of all anononymous stereotypes should realize "Darth" that the good side of the force is much stronger than the dark side. Even the simple sterotypes used in the movies weren't good enough to educate you.
I already proved that I would strike when I organized a picket on the union. Who does that? Would you or any of your fellows, nope. I would have been out there alone if I had to and was prepared to do so. What I planned to do spread like wild fire and I started getting calls from desperate people across the state who didn't know what to do. Real people in trouble who had nowhere else to go and no plan of action. Where was Sue Kent , she was rubbing her hands in glee waiting for the inevitable. She spoke to the press and told them the sacrifice had to be made and now you call those people cowards?? What gives you the right? You can't look anybody in the face let alone a single Mom pleading for help. I didn't know what I was doing in the beginning but I knew it had to be something and it had to be fast. I know you can't understand this but once again maybe someone in the audience is getting this down.
You call them cowards and I call them Americans. I think John Wayne would have agreed with me and every American patriot that sent out a call to arms. Read American history and post one single instance where cowardice is rewarded. We fight for our homes and we fight for our jobs and these pople did the only thing they could, they pleaded their case to consider the second contract and asked their fellow members to vote for it knowing the consequences. So are you blaming the 20,000 that voted yes with their free will or the 40 volunteers that asked that they vote yes. Who exactly do you want to blame and call a coward?
I told our mutual friend and others where I work that I will save a place in the picket line when the next opportunity to show the Governor how tough we are occurs. This time it will be shared sacrifice something you are not familiar with. By the way I like Tom's new video but I would have placed them in straight jackets. The song is a classic.
Its late and I have to get some sleep.

Yanno, I was just going to go off to bed, but after reading this, it deserves a response No,no,no you didn't get a layoff notice and you dishonor all of the folks that had to go through that trauma. The only way you will convince anybody you were threatened would be to post the document. You have absolutely no credibility on this one so I wouldn't go there. Honestly, I don't really give a shit if I have any "credibility" with you or not on this issue Pete. I know my own situation. People that I cared to inform know what my situation was. That's more than enough. Whether you chose to believe it or not is not really a concern. Unlike you, I'm not seeking the spotlight. Let's put things in perspective Pete: You are already considerably getting your ass handed to you here on state workforce issues. I would REALLY advise you not to start going off and bringing Star Wars into the conversation, because I'll make your head spin. And the point is this Pete: Your emotional appeal is bullshit. *I* am a single parent that was in jeopardy. *I* chose what I felt was the right path, not the easy path. So you can take a long walk off a very short pier with your emotional appeal bullshit, because my own circumstances negate such garbage. You proved nothing other than you didn't want to get demoted. Picketing a union does not prove you had the intestinal fortitude to strike. Let's think about this for a second: You were crying over losing a portion of your income when you're a grade what, 24? And your wife is what, a grade 18? So you'd would have STILL been a household with a $100k+ a year income even after being demoted. What the fuck do you think would happen if you went out on strike Pete? Do you think the state would keep paying you or something? Either you could have more than dealt with the bump financially, or you couldn't have financially weathered a strike because you are irresponsibly overextending yourself based on the combined income you and your wife are pulling down. This is basic logic. And yet here I am - on ONE income. I saw what was coming. I prepared to weather the storm. I was ready for it. TBQH, it was so obvious what was coming that I really have little sympathy for ANYONE who didn't prepare for the worst. Why? We're PEF members. The vast majority of us are at least SG-18s or above. If we can't live on that AND be able to put something aside, we're living above our means. It's not like we're grade 6 clerks making $25k and barely getting by on subsistence wages. Sure, you can call that statement callous or uncaring. But the reality is that it's simply stating the obvious - we're all educated, well paid professionals that have no reason to be living from paycheck to paycheck, and anyone with half a brain should have seen the storm coming for months and therefore had plenty of time to prepare. Save the psycho-babble bullshit that co-opts patriotism Pete. It makes you sound like a teabagger. And bringing John Wayne into the discussion? Do you actually KNOW anything about John Wayne? Yeah, John Wayne was certainly the type to say "uncle" to bullies that threatened him, wasn't he? ROFLMMFAO! What's next? Are you going to imply Rocky Balboa would have voted yes too because Mick would have thrown in the towel? That Wyatt Earp would have simply walked away from the O.K. Corral? That George Washington would have simply said "OK" to the British because they threatened to unleash the redcoats? Wow. What a horrible analogy. Bringing John Wayne into the discussion doesn't PROVE your point - it negates it - completely. You are both OBSESSED with figuring out who I am. As Weekendgirl said, it's actually kinda creepy. Look - I was as respectful as I could possibly be to BOTH you and Tom today, and you've got to come back at me with this tone? Whatever Pete. I thought you were a little bit more mature than that and actually willing to discuss PEF issues, and not simply focus on me. Apparently, that is not the case.

One of the reasons I've resolved to stay out of all this union nonsense from now on is the attitude being displayed by Tom Giorgio and Pete Rea: that they don't respect our anonymity and that they insist on continuously attempting to figure out who we are and "out" us.
I believe this is nothing less than a veiled threat, and it is meant to bully us out of the public conversation. They're saying "if you don't stop disagreeing with us, we're going to find out who you are and GET you". They don't specify what they'll DO with our identities, but they don't HAVE to; it's clear they intend to vilify us on their website, contact our employers, and otherwise attack us (perhaps even harassing us in person).
And for what? Disagreeing with them? Being smarter than them, and having a more compelling argument in a debate? It's utterly childish.
I find it very interesting that these unpleasant men complain that we don't care about their jobs, but they feel it's perfectly alright to try to get us fired from OUR jobs for disagreeing with them.
I'll leave you with a thought (then I'm out for good).
These online conversations are just debates. If you can't successfully win a debate using arguments and logic, then maybe you should consider that the other side might be RIGHT. Don't drag your emotions into it, don't insist on things you can't prove, and don't threaten the other side when you don't get your way.
Are you adults, or are you children? That is the question you must answer. If you are adults, then converse like adults. Use logic and discourse, and convince the other side that you're right.
When you resort to threats (like trying to find out who someone is) you have ALREADY LOST. Whether you understand this or not is immaterial.
Good day to all.

Techie, you are 100% correct. And Tom, you can't compare your attempts to expose anonymous people with Darth exposing your facebook stuff. You are the one that left your facebook page public, which makes it fair game!

Weekendgirl! Hi! ;D
I think it definitely IS creepy that they keep demanding to know our real names. It seems to me the only possibilities as to why they might want this so badly are:
A) they want to bully us out of the public conversation, or
B) they have a secret crush on us and hope to "get closer" so to speak.
God I hope it's A.

Well, Pete was right. He said if I wanted a really good laugh to stop by here. Definitely not as good as Bill Maher, but entertaining nonetheless.

I have always associated creepy with the unknown. Funny how we all perceive things differently. Who do you think you speak for? I hope no one because as you can all see this blog is just swarming with people who agree with you. I can't stay in your sand box long. Maybe I will come out to play later. I have to caution you though, I'm fast becoming bored, I need mental stimulation to keep my mind sharp. When I log in here my neurons don't light up, At least Darth made them flicker a bit.
Whats the countdown now? I think it's 10 days. These are exciting times.

Thatgirl, you know what's also fair? It's fair that Darth likes to have a beer and discuss his hatred with people at Downtown Albany Pubs. ;D

Haven't we told you time and time again that if you don't stop talking trash in those Downtown Albany Pubs that you're going to out yourself. You really should start going to Buffalo if you want to drink beer.

When I log in here my neurons don't light up, At least Darth made them flicker a bit. Please don't flicker over Darth. It makes me think that Techie's option B was the correct one. Unless you have already uncovered the fact that Darth is really a woman. Hmmmm...maybe you're a better investigator than we gave you credit for.

Well, hello, Mrs. Rea. Lovely that you stopped by. I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, although you find us lacking in comparison to Bill Maher's show... In our defense I would like to point out that he's a tough act to follow.
But wait! Can he program computers! I think not! Thus, a point in our favor!
Bazinga!

@tom G: Wow. I'm sorry you're bored; perhaps it's karma, for boring everyone else for so long with your site and videos. I tried to watch the one in black and white with Pete blabbing away about something or other, but forget about it. It's not humanly possible to stay awake through something like that.
If you're having trouble staying alert due to boredom, perhaps I can help. When I was in college, we used to amuse ourselves by writing C programs to solve the classic problem "Towers of Hanoi". It is said that it is not possible to solve a 64-disk Towers of Hanoi puzzle within a single person's lifetime; our simulations for several disks took a brief time to solve on a mid-nineties computer.
Use your fabled powers of investigation to solve a 64-disk Towers of Hanoi, then report back to me with your findings. I shall wait with bated breath for your reply, Holmes!
P.S. When you say my comments to you are "vial" do you mean I keep them in little jars?

ThatGirl just to show you what an imbecile you are, I would like you please cut and past my text from anyplace I demanded that anyone to reveal their identity? Please quote me saying this. You can't because it never happened. Please try and take command of the language. Communication is easy, you simply need to read wrote not interpret it in your own paranoid mind conjures up. They have meds for schizophrenia, just saying. ;D

Hmmmm, I think Pete was right. Techie and Darth maybe one in the same but I had another thought. I recall an episode of CSI where there was this girl who had 3 personality's. She had 2 male alter ego's , maybe Techie Darth and Thatgirl are the same! that would explain his feminine side he reveals on occasion. What do you think Linda?
