After being on hiatus, I've decided to re-open the board during the election and the contract negotiations.
My time is limited, so I won't be able to participate as much as I'd like, however, I believe we need an uncensored area to frankly discuss both issues. Now... GO!

PEF Employees Uncensored. SMH.
"Uncensored" apparently only if you agree with whatever the Reas and CoUP have to say.
Note NO ONE has ever been censored here. Why? Because if someone wants to act like a fucktard, let's leave it out there for all to see. We've got nothing to hide here.

What I'm worried about is will Cuomo screw the retirees over health insurance dealing with the contract like he did when the current contract was ratified.

Given that apparently CoUP just won, I suspect that is likely.

Sigh. I suspect I will have to seriously consider trying to get myself promoted out of this union. Since discounted movie tickets aren't my top priority, I don't seem to fit in...

Now that I've calmed down a little bit, let's review what the PEF membership has done in the last four years:
* Reject a crappy five year contract * Accept an even crappier four year contract, with the main justification being that PEF would get to negotiate before CSEA for the next contract * Send the incumbents packing in the election held in the next year, with the crappy contract driving this outcome * Three years later, vote out the incumbents again, leaving open the possibility of the contract talks being delayed, thereby negating the sole benefit of accepting the crappier contract in 2011
To be fair toward the PEF membership, the above only pertains to the minority who actually bother to vote.
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right…

Yes, I would dare say the membership seems to be a bit... schizophrenic.
At the same time, it certainly doesn't help that a small but vocal contingent of the union has spent the last 3 years muckraking and working to undermine the new administration as much as possible, for no reason other than personal butthurt over the previous election.

The conceptual contract proposal is out on the members-only section of the PEF website. While it cannot be discussed here (and I will immediately delete any posts in the public part of this forum that bring up the details, as they should not be leaked to the public or the press at this time), in the private, verified members-only section of this board, there is an open discussion on this topic in the PEF folder.

Since you've re-opened these boards, Darth, I seem to have lost access to the PEF folder...

Do you see the "Unions" sub-folder? It should be in there.

Nope. Only have access to the Public Discussion section of the forums these days.

Hmm. I'll try to fix it this weekend. Something must have broken with the tiered access when Proboards updated the boards to a new version.
