Gee, it took me some time to read through all of these posts. Well Darth anonymous have you now stooped to picking on me for spelling errors? I write these responses quickly with no spell check and very rarely go back and edit. Not worth my time. I'm not writing a novel or a white paper, its a blog. Get over it.
So what's with the "mini pete" ? I'm not sure how I feel about that, is it a compliment or an insult?
You know, today is Tom's birthday and I sent him a bundle of paper bags as a present. I'm surprised you didn't see the humor in his video. As you say, its not personal, just business.
I see I have received some very kind words on your blog isn't that ironic? I appreciate the compliments and will try to live up their expectations.
So Darth, you seem to have eased up a bit with the insults but profanity is the hallmark of ignorance. I know you're better than that.
So here I am in your spider web and we seem to have attracted an audience. Did you lure me here so people would visit your blog? I thought you had a following but the number of posts I saw in the beginning really didn't reflect that. I know I'm not a celebrity but it appears that your blog has suddenly become quite popular. I almost feel like I'm being used in some way. Was this your original plan?
I'm not going to become a regular here and taunts will not bring me back. I want you to start behaving like a real man and start thinking of how to become part of the solution rather than contributing to the problem. Enough with this NYUP baloney, if you want to vote for her so be it. Vote as you will and support who you want but try to refrain from attacking others that don't share your point of view. Bullying is becoming a big no-no in this country and the public is very sensitive when it comes to open displays.
I never thought I had a chance of changing your views but you weren't willing to discuss the issue it just became one attack after another. Yes it drew some attention but its short lived because it is based on an irrational premise and is immersed in hate. Ken Brynien will win because enough people voted for him and lose if enough people voted against him. In either case Sue Kent will not get the mandate of the people and will be between a rock and a hard place if she has to take the reigns of this union.
I 'll share a mental image of her first meeting with the Governor. I see a big old hound dog , slobbering and licking his jowls as they bring in a huge soup bone for him to gnaw on. She's way our of her league and everyone that knows her realizes that.
I love that analogy and it seems to get a good response from the folks I tell it to. By the way, you seem to be a bit upset at the thought of having your identity brought to light and it appears there are many who would love to see it happen.
I saw your reasons why I shouldn't shine the spot light on you and you don't make a really good case. I think it would be wonderful if you removed the bag and started building your credibility. You seem to be intelligent at times and would probably be a good advocate if you could drop the anger and get on the A team. I'm still giving this some thought and I suppose it would be synonymous to kicking a mean dog. It may feel good for a while but then I would probably regret it later.
Why don't you write to savejobs@unionfamilies.com and share some job saving ideas you have come up with and spare the sarcasm. If you do that I may come back. pete

Pete,
No, I'm not picking on your spelling or the way you post. I'm simply pointing out to the person who brought it up that what you've written so far wasn't all that polished. And you'll note - I defended that (and you) by noting that many people simply don't care about polish when posting on the internet.
As far as Toms video - I see a ton of humor in it, because he illustrates my point (and has continued to do so over and over again) - he's infantile and immature. Personally, I think he's done more than enough to torpedo his own candidacy if enough people from DEC read his comments here.
As far as the number of people here: the forum has been around for a long, long time - and the private sections of the forums, which you do not have access to, are far more active than the public sections. However, don't flatter yourself that you are driving the traffic yourself to the public portion. That you would even THINK that lends credibility to the entire "15 minutes" statement Techie made, does it not? No Pete, people are coming simply to see what's being said. That doesn't mean they are all your supporters, nor does it mean they would be my supporters, or anyones supporters for that matter. They could be non-members simply looking for entertainment. They could be reporters looking to see what's going on. Bottom line - the vast majority simply read what was written and do not post.
I don't share your view that pointing out inconsistencies in your statements is bullying. You may feel that, because pointing said inconsistencies out might be a little embarrassing for you - and that's understandable, because no one wants to publicly look less than truthful. But if you said it, and then you say something else, as someone who has purposely put themselves smack dab in the middle of a political fight, you should expect that someone will point things like that out. That should be expected if you plan on moving into the public spotlight. As I said on CapCon, had you simply said "I was bumped to a lower grade and I didn't originally support concessions, but changed my opinion" and been honest, you would have never personally heard a peep from me.
No, you won't change my views. Nor will I change yours. Regardless, whoever ends up winning, the very next thing that needs to occur is both sides need to coalesce behind the union and start moving forward. Whether you chose to admit it or not Pete, Sue is right on a great number of things: the public DOES need to be educated about the issues. Simply holding candlelight vigils and protests where 200 people show up accomplishes nothing substantive - and that's what Ken has been doing. That isn't well thought out leadership. It's haphazard and weak, because obviously, he simply does not have the ability to mobilize the vast majority of the membership. He isn't a great orator and he doesn't fire people up.
Listen Pete: I respected the privacy of someone very close to you earlier. If you want to run around on a wild goose chase trying to track me down, go for it. But what does it accomplish at the end of the day? Nothing other than to show you're pissed off and vindictive, and sinking almost to the maturity level Tom has displayed - unless of course you turn around and challenge me to a fistfight like he did earlier - then you've gone right to his level. But you don't seem to be the hotheaded type he is. As far as my reasons for choosing to remain anonymous - do you trust the Cuomo administration? I sure don't. They're weasels, and as I speak out against them regularly on multiple political blogs, I chose not to take any unnecessary risks. Governors (and more importantly, their staffweasel political operatives like Glaser and Schwartz) do go after rank and file people that become a political thorn in their sides, and as Cuomo and those in his administration are well known to be quite vindictive when it comes to dissent, I choose to not paint a target on myself any more than I need to. You have no such problem, because the position you have taken is exactly what he wanted - say yes to concessions, and you've said little to nothing other than that publicly on other subjects that would draw their ire.
Now that I've addressed what you've said, lets deal with some of the issues:
Let me ask you the same thing I asked of Tom, which he avoided - where were you during the Tier VI fight? I was an extremely vocal opponent, and I put my money where my mouth was - I was repeatedly posting the facts and data on the plan versus Tier V all over the internet. I was trying to make a difference. Where were you? In fact, where was PEF? Holding a tiny rally? Then turning around and endorsing politicians that screwed us or at minimum, didn't lift a finger to help us? That's not leadership in my book. On the other hand, what I was doing was the kind of outreach and public education that Susan talks about. It's pretty simple - the Cuomo administration wasn't being honest about the savings, and almost NO ONE even mentioned it. Not even the press picked up on it, even after it was repeatedly pointed out to them - with the exception of Channel 6 mentioning a quick blurb about the fiscal note that reflected that Tier VI might be more expensive and then never mentioning it again.
Therein lies our problem. We cannot educate the public (because the leadership and national unions refuse to even try), and the press all believes all the bullshit that's put out in press releases from the administration and does basically NO fact checking of their own. We faced the EXACT SAME ISSUES as the contract fight that needed to be addressed, and the M1st team again dropped the ball. We need to be pushing for public outreach - even when there isn't anything currently going on like a contract negotiation. We need to work on our public image, because the political atmosphere in the nation has far too many people ignorantly believing echo chamber bullshit about how underworked and overpaid we are. And we NEED to push for new leadership nationally, because the entrenched leadership on the national level is just as ineffective as Ken. Finally, as I said a short time ago, we NEED to be about others and not just PEF. PEF has to be strong supporters of items that are good for the working class overall, that have strong popular voter support, AND that really doesn't affect us directly, like increasing the minimum wage. Being staunch, vocal supporters of such issues will make the public stand up and say "Hey, those people are fighting for ME! Maybe they aren't so bad after all!"
Look - I commend you for actually having the temerity to have a discussion that doesn't devolve into a ton of infantile ad hom and actually at least touches on the issues. It's more than I can say for Tom and "Lynn" - and I suggest you have a discussion with them on their behavior, because they aren't really doing you (or for that matter, Members First) any favors by acting like assholes here.

@darth
Did Tom really challenge you to a fistfight? I didn't see that. I'm not trying to mimic anybody and I'm not in a popularity contest. I have never been angry with anyone on the blogs and don't feel vindictive.
You made a few good comments in your last posting and i would normally be inclined to respond were it not for the unappealing sue Kent ads that sunrunner just plastered on this blog. I normally refrain from sites with graffitti so I'll check back when you get it cleaned up.

Darth is off his meds Pete. You should know that any time I offer to debate someone in person it's taken as a threat. That's because these kinds of people are afraid of their shadow. I can't stay in the web to long. I feel it starting to pulsate. I barley escaped last night! I kind moth sacrificed it's self by breaking a part of the web and letting me out. I think Darth needs love and affection. Myabe we should chip in a buy him a puppy dog?

Darth, all I wanted was to have a beer with you. I know you frequent the pub downtown. I also know it won't be much of a walk and I'm just a short distance. What was that comment about me not being to fucking smart? I can be extremely resourceful. ;D Closer closer, step by step, inch by inch. Now we can be pals?

I have been monitoring from afar because I know that Darth can fight his own battles but Tom, dude...you're getting a little carried away here. In fact you are beginning to sound like a stalker. A bit creepy if you ask me. I think it's you who is off his meds!

Dear that girl. I didn't realize that inviting someone to have a beer was considered stalking. I would think the stalker would be the anonymous one but I guess I'm just rational in my thinking. It's funny how we all perceive things differently. There is that old saying, :your perception is your reality:. The trouble with blogs is that no matter what lengths you go to make a point, it's twisted and taken out of context. That's why I prefer face to face communication but you have be a real man to do that. Just because I did some detective work to find out who Darth is does not in anyway shape or form constitute stalking. I never even said I would reveal him. I suppose I could have some fun playing wheel of fortune until he begs me to stop. Would you like to buy the first vowel?
What I find amusing is the loudmouth who hides behind the keyboard always ends up running away. I can understand and the puzzle is coming together now. Darth's rantings on this board are strikingly similar to that of NYUP and I don't mean the candidates but their koolaid guzzling followers. The only reason he fears being discovered is because he believes in NYUP and doesn't want to ruin their chances. Many of you take all this nonsense way to seriously. I'm not a physiologist but from reading Darths rantings on other topics, he appears to have a lot of hate and discontent. Oh well, that's to bad. One of my favorite quotes is that those who scream the loudest have the least to say. PS, I could be talking to Darth right now. How would I know? Get my point? Or maybe this is not even Tom? Isn't cyberspace fun? Remember, it was Darth who attacked Pete first and it's clear why after reading his posts. He is absolutely furious that the contract was ratified and it's quite clear he blames me and Pete. Who ever Darth is appears to have several unresolved anger issues. In any case, I'm sorry you can't find humor in all of this. I have rule in my life and that is if I can't make it fun I don't do it. It's been fun, real fun. I can't stay in Darths web to long. I feel him coming along any minute to spin his death wrap on me.
Oh, and one more thing. One would have a difficult time accusing someone of stalking who was invited here by the supposed stalking victim. To show you how foolish this all is, I could make the case that I'm being stalked. Darth has been stalking my facebook hoping to find some incrimination treasures that don't exist. Have to run now.
It truly is my hope that Darth and I can have a real conversation someday, not one that he feels the needs to control.
I have real life work and things to do.

Pete: I'm not really sure how what SunRunner has posted is relevent to whether or not you chose to reply to a conversation between you and I.
Tom: Last warning. Talk about the issues and end the trolling, or the banhammer is coming down.

So long Tom. Unbanned. Weekendgirl has requested that she be able to respond to you, and you be allowed to read it. As I respect her immensely, I will give her that.
However, I'm not kidding Tom. Quit acting like a juvenile, or you're done here. I'm tired of your shit. I opened this thread to discuss PEF issues - not for you to act like a teenager using your trebuchet of insults to be an asshole and hurl infantile crap at everyone.
And yes, I realize that you could simply post from another PC, but if you continue to piss me off, I will ban every IP address you post from or I think you will post from - including blocking the whole of the IP addresses from DEC, robbing your co-workers of keeping up to date.
