Hello.
I've been drawn to this board from the cogent comments made by Darth Stateworker to various blog posts at the Albany Times Union. I am still working through my probation period for the state, after over twenty years of working in both corporate and non-profit settings. Despite thinking that the Governor was not bluffing with his layoff threats, and being the low man on the totem pole as far as my position in the state, I voted against the proposed PEF contract. As I hope to work many more years for the state (I view this work as far more meaningful than my prior corporate life), I saw the permanent increase in health insurance premiums as prohibitive. So far, no letter of termination has reached my mail box (keeps fingers crossed), though I would not regret nor change my no vote if one did arrive.
Besides being a state employee, I am also a New York Met fan and usually vote for Green Party candidates. Yet, I do not see myself as a masochist :-) NOTE: the account I created does not have the 0 at the end. By rearranging the letters of my handle in a certain way, one will discover my opinion of the Governor.
