General forum rules:
1. Purpose - This forum is provided as a place for meaningful discussion on issues dealing with the workforce of the State of New York.
2. Thread location - Discussion threads should be started in the appropriate forum. Moderators may move threads to the appropriate forum or delete off-topic threads at their sole discretion. An "Off-Topic" forum is provided under the "General" heading for discussions unrelated to the New York State Workforce.
3. No Flaming - Flaming is not conducive to productive discussion. While the moderators will not play the "Internet Police" routinely, flaming is discouraged and blatant flame baiting, flame wars, or just sheer asshattery may result in warnings or sanctions, up to and including a whack with the almighty banhammer.
4. No Discrimination - You may not insult members based on their religion, race, sex, political beliefs, or whether they are gay or straight. This is worse than flaming, because it also hurts other members of the board who fall into the category you insult. ANY discrimination will IMMEDIATELY result in a swift whack of the banhammer, which will hit you hard enough that your great-great grandchildren will feel it and it will result in a permanent ban .
5. Keep the profanity to a dull roar - We're all adults here. We've all heard profanity before. Lets try not to use it and turn every post into a Howard Stern-esque "7 dirty words" fest. The moderators for the most part will not be playing the "Internet Police" on this point, and have a belief that if hearing or seeing a dirty word occasionally is uberly insulting to you, you should not leave your home, turn on your TV, or use the internet. At the same time, repeated extreme profanity may bring sanctions at the moderators sole discretion.
5. No Hacking - This should go without saying, but you are not permitted to hack the board. Guessing someone elses password and succeeding counts as hacking. Members who hack will instantly be permanently struck with the banhammer without any warnings.
6. Decisions of the moderators are final and not up for debate - Enough said.
Follow the rules, and you will never have to see this:
